Meeting Date: December 12, 2007
Guest Pianist: Jeffery Biegel
Topic: on classical sonatinas by Clementi, Kuhlau, and Dussek
Jeffrey Biegel has established himself as one of the most versatile
artists on the stage today. In 1985, Leonard Bernstein said of him: " He
played fantastic Liszt. He is a splendid musician and a brilliant
performer."
His studies with Adele Marcus at Juilliard from 1979 to 1985
provided a deep passion from the great tradition of pianism, which his audiences sense from his inspired interpretations and musical integrity.
Richard Danielpour is composing a new work exclusively for Mr. Biegel. Tentatively titled " Concerto for Piano & Percussion" ( 5 players and piano). The work is slated for premieres in the 2006-1007 season with the esteemed Canadian percussion ensemble, Nexus.
Mr. Biegle is an avid choral music composer. He and his son Craig co-composed " The World in Our Hands"
-- a Choral piece reflecting the events of 9/11. Hal Leonard is the publisher.
Mr. Biegel has created downloadable ring tone for a UK company.
Jeffrey Biegel's newly published Sonatina Album for
Schirmer is well received by piano teachers and
students
